Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how RideTap ("RideTap," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by Joe Jackson, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile app and website at ridetap.app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
RideTap serves two kinds of people: Drivers, who create profiles and manage booking requests, and Customers, who view a Driver's profile and may submit a booking request. We handle information a little differently for each, as described below.
2. Information We Collect
From Drivers (account holders): Account information — your name, email address, and, if you choose to provide it, your phone number. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the basic identifying information Apple shares (such as your name and email); you can also sign in with a code sent to your email.
Profile content — business name, headline, service area, "about" text, vehicles, services and pricing text, testimonials, and photos you upload.
Booking and business data — the booking requests you receive, your notes, quote text, calendar entries, and any affiliate/referral information you set up. Note that RideTap does not process ride payments and does not collect ride payment details; amounts shown are text you enter.
Subscription status — whether you are on the free or Pro tier (billing itself is handled by Apple; we do not receive your full payment card details).
Store purchases — if you buy physical goods (such as Tap Cards) from our web store, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment and shipping details; we receive the order and shipping information needed to fulfill it, never your full card number.
From Customers (people who submit a booking request): the information you enter in a Driver's booking request form — typically your name, phone number, email address, and the details of your request (such as date, time, party size, pickup/dropoff, occasion, and any notes). This information is submitted to the Driver you are contacting and stored so the Driver can respond and manage the request.
Automatically: basic technical and usage data needed to run the Service — such as device and app information, log data, and, for public profiles, aggregate view and tap counts. If you enable push notifications, we use a device token to deliver them.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to: provide and operate the Service — create and display Driver profiles, deliver booking requests to Drivers, send sign-in codes, and send notifications and transactional emails (such as booking confirmations); maintain, secure, and improve the Service, and prevent fraud and abuse; communicate with you about your account or the Service; and comply with legal obligations.
Customer information submitted through a booking request is used to pass that request to the Driver and to let the Driver contact and manage the booking. When you submit a request, you are sharing your information with that Driver, who is an independent business responsible for their own handling of it.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
With Drivers — a Customer's booking-request information is shared with the specific Driver the Customer contacted.
Publicly — a Driver's chosen public profile content (business name, photos, services, pricing text, etc.) is displayed on their public profile page by design, and profile links are intended to be shared. Do not put anything in your public profile you do not want to be public.
With service providers — companies that host and power the Service on our behalf, such as our cloud/database provider (Supabase), hosting provider (Vercel), email and notification providers, and, for physical goods sold on our web store, our payment processor (Stripe). They process data only to provide those services to us.
For legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of RideTap, our users, or the public.
In a business transfer — if RideTap is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Drivers can edit or remove much of their profile content in the app, and can delete their account and associated personal information directly in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by contacting us (see Section 9); some information may be retained where required by law or for fraud prevention.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Access, update, deletion — you can edit much of your information in the app, delete your account in Settings, and you can request access to or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
Push notifications — you can turn these off in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under California's CCPA/CPRA or other state privacy laws) to access, delete, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. We honor these rights where they apply. We do not sell personal information.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Contact Us
Questions or requests about this Policy or your information: [email protected].
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
